Description: Carlton Black was an Evanston resident and a professional musician. He was part of a group called the Duvals and the Naturals. There were several 45’s produced with one song that was a modest hit in Chicago called “The Cotton”. Black penned the song “Tell Him” for the Evanston group, Drew-vells of which Patti Drew was the lead. “Tell Him” was one of the songs in the movie “The Butler” (2013).
